When and how to submit a proposal Proposals are received throughout the year on the
prescribed format, which can be obtained on request from the Secretary, Medical
Research Council (MRC) of Maharashtra, DMER. Three copies of the completed
application are to be submitted along with CD. All projects involving
research on human beings must be cleared by the Ethical Committee of the
respective institute. Financial support is provided by the MRC in all areas related to health and biomedical sciences. Maximum Limit of Cost of Project No specific limit, average cost Rs. 2 lakhs. Equipment, Consumables, Contingencies.
Staff, Basic infrastructure, renovation civil work, furniture, electric work or similar type of work.
(i) Procedure followed in approving a new project The criteria adopted by the MRC in evaluating such project proposals include availability of basic infrastructure in the host Institution; capability of the applicant to undertake the project, and the scientific merit of the proposal. The proposals, which are received throughout the year, are first submitted to executive committee, which will forward them to the Scientific Advisory Board constituted by the MRC, for their comments and recommendations for acceptance. The duration of STAR research project is usually for 2 years. Sanction being accorded initially for 1 year, with annual renewal on the basis of report evaluation. (ii) Project Monitoring Mechanism: Reports on the progress of work done under the STAR research project will be submitted to the MRC annually in the progress format given by MRC. If a report is not submitted, the scheme is liable to be discontinued immediately without any notice. Annual report will be evaluated by Scientific Advisory Board. Prior permission of the MRC shall be obtained if the investigator desires to discontinue the scheme before the expiry of the approved duration. A final report of the work done is required to be submitted within one month from the date of termination of the scheme. The report is to be sent to the MRC along with a list of the expendable and non-expendable items of stores. (iii) Project
Completion Report (PCR) 1. No. of copies obtained 5. 2. Action taken on PCR. The final report is reviewed by the Scientific Advisory Group. If the report is found satisfactory, an abstract on the work done is published in the Milestone Journal of DMER. Contact Address Member Secretary
