Maharashtra
is one of the pioneering states in India in the field of Medical
Education. The state has made consistent progress in this field.
Establishment of new medical colleges in peripheral areas, modernization of existing institutions, efforts in the improvement
of professional skills is the major achievements so far. The state
has potentialities to provide the advanced medical services
through these institutions for the people.
Medical
Education and Drugs Department came into existance on 1st
september 1982, from former Urban Development and Public Health
Department.
Medical Education & Drugs Department is responsible for
Medical Education, Health care & research in the field of
Medicine, control of Drugs & prevention of Food Adulteration.
These aims are achieved by the department through following
authorities.
The Minister (Medical Education) & the
Minister of state ( Medical Education)
the Minister ( Drugs ) & the Minister of state ( Drugs) give
the vision and guidance to the Department in setting the goals.
The Secretary, Medical Education and Drugs Department works to
achieve these goals.
